Inexpensive Marketing Through
Search Engines
Increasing exposure is an
important aspect of any advertising campaign. Whether its
a small business or large corporation, people will do
anything to get themselves known. The internet is no
different. Obviously, once you've done all the hard work
of designing your web site, testing and hosting, the site
is no good if it remains orphaned on the World Wide Web.
Statistics reveal that
search engines generate around 85% of the total web
traffic. Now that's a huge amount, considering the fact,
that there are over 35 million people using the internet.
Search Engines are not only generating traffic, but
they're also bringing in, targeted visitors to your site.
Visitors that are searching for your message or your
products. This way they can be very effective on the
ultimate results that a website achieves. Its no good
adopting an advertising strategy that brings in misled
visitors that go away after seeing your home page. Search
engines bring in huge amounts of targeted traffic, as
compared to unwanted tricky emails, misleading text links or
even the FFA link pages.
For instance, compare search
engines with banner ads. Even the most prominently placed
banners achieve a low click through rate; around 2%
is the best they can do. That is to say for every thousand
banners displayed, you are likely to receive at the very
best around 20 visitors. If purchased from a well reputed
company ($5+/1000), they cost around 25-30 cents a
visitor. Now that's a little too much per visitor, since
not all that are going to visit are going to make a
purchase, unless you are offering your products for free.
Likewise, email marketing
sends out emails to thousands of addresses. With mail
filtering becoming all the more aggressive on a majority
of service providers, those valid email address claim, is
becoming somewhat questionable. Even those mails that do
get through, most are likely to be deleted without even
being opened. nobody wants junk mail. Search engines on
the other hand become more effective, because they present
the surfer, with what he is searching. Most of all, the
majority of them still accept free listing. So if a
website can really rank well with the major search
engines, its likely to produce excellent results. Not only
exposure, but your sales shooting sky high. |
